What an incredible evening of creating art! Artist Emily Christenson began by showing us images of the rings of a tree. Each of us etched our own rings in a section of a large canvas, added color to our rings then we connected all the rings. My friend, Crystal, told me that she learned something about me that evening....that I wouldn't put down my paint brush until the instructor told me I had to lay it down. When are you DONE with cancer?
You survive cancer surgery, chemo and radiation. Are you done with cancer? No. You still have endless follow-up appointments with your long list of new doctors....oncologists, neurologists, internists, cardiologists, gastroenterologists, dermatologists.... You finish years of chemo drugs. Are you done with cancer? There goes the pink ribbon lady
While going through cancer treatment, I remember thinking that if one more person gives me a gift with the pink ribbon on it, I will scream. Really, the last thing I wanted was being branded "pink loving cancer person" on my scarf, t-shirt, cap, key ring, water bottle, scarf, earrings.... The cancer ribbons were suddenly everywhere! Funny thing is now that I've been cancer-free for seven years, I wear the ribbon proudly. I love wearing pink with my silver hair. And I find
